Commentary on United We Are The People.

In a recent blog post by, United We Are The People, highlights the alarming concern of internet privacy. Though I agree mostly with the blogger's views I disagree that citizens with criminal records should have their information monitored. Through a constitutional standpoint, any type of monitoring without probable cause is a violation of the citizens right to privacy. Even though these citizens have convicted of a crime does not mean that they should give up their personal privacy all together. Human rights should be placed over anything else. If we make a generalization that all criminals will continue to pursue deviant, unlawful behavior, then we should take a look at ourselves and rethink how we view our society, and our country. Internet privacy in our technologically advanced society should be a right to everyone. Not simply if you haven't committed a crime. In our world, many people hold their entire lives on their connected devices. If this continues, what stopping the government for creating a Facebook like algorithm to isolate and target individuals based on the content on their devices. Without internet privacy it leads us into a police state, where we must constantly watch out backs and look out for Uncle Sam. That is not the country I would want to live in, nor the country that I ever will.

US Relations in danger

Donald Trump is an immediate danger to the United State’s relationships with other nations. I honestly can’t believe that we have allowed someone with the diplomatic understanding of a typical teenager to not only handle our foreign affairs, but also run our country. Nearly 80 days into his presidency and we are have yet to see anything substantial from him being this “great closer”. And with his recent loss of failing to pass his healthcare bill through a congress that his party controls, it seems he's not as good at negotiating as he thinks.
Throughout his campaign, he boasted on how quickly he’d turn our unstable foreign relations with Russia and China around incredibly fast. Yet, we have seen nothing of this. It seems as though our Chinese relations have been forgotten. And with new Russian conflict information sprouting up every day, who knows where that will stand once this all plays out. Undoubtedly our stagnant presence in the Middle East is still wavering on a string more than ever since George H. W. Bush held office.
Who are we kidding here? How long will we allow this to continue? The United States has elected a president who has no other diplomatic skill set other than to yell louder than his opponent. He sees no reasoning behind any argument other than his own. His campaign rallies were proof enough of this, as he continually one after another, ejected men and women from them for any type of disagreement with his ideology. If the isn’t enough for you, a quick read of his twitter account should definitely seal the deal. Arguing with celebrities, accusatory statements of other public officials, and childish verbal attacks against anyone who opposes him.
This is the man that we are in-trusting with the relations of our foreign affairs. Not only is it frightening to think about how he will react against nations who are not our strongest supporters, but also with those who we have worked well with for decades. We should think long and hard about who we allow to dictate the deals that are made from here on out. I for one am not faithful, in Trump’s ability to mediate any type of negation, now or in the future.

Anyone Home?

In an opinion post, The Washington Post, attempts to notify all audiences of how empty the president's staff is. I agree with the post's opinion, the White House is empty. Its hard not to agree considering the evidence is clear as day. The Washington Post states, "... there hasn't been one in weeks", referring to the routine daily briefings in the State Department. This is more than likely a fact due to the lack of staff in the white house. This article states that only 34 of 549 of appointments below the cabinet level have been appointed, and only 14 of those have been confirmed. I believe the post is alluding to these spots never being filled completely, and if they are, with the already high turn over rate of Trumps administration we can't be certain they will stay filled. Its also an issue of the President's unpredictable behavior. Many people approached for these positions may not take them due to the uncertainty of the position. You'd think that these positions would be filled just as quickly as President Obama's staff was shipped out, however this was not the case. Donald Trump prides himself in being the best, but sooner or later he will realize that he can't do this job single handedly.

Betsy DeVos is dangerous

A post published by The Huffington Post, shows just how uneducated our Secretary of Education is on her position. This post outlines the series of questions directed towards DeVos from Sen. Tim Kaine (D- Virginia), specifically questions geared towards the enforcement of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. This article showcases how DeVos has risen to her current position. She will not answer questions directly, and when she does they are completely irrelevant to what most parents believe in the best interest of their child. DeVos has no educational background in teaching or any administrative rolls, however she is now leading the country's educational direction. What she is experienced in is giving her money to the republican party to further her own beliefs in education which are specifically targeted to private and charter schools. This article is an important example of who is in charge of this country future's education. She shows no signs of being versed in educational law, nor does she seem confident in proclaiming her views over being in a position of power.
